Reception
Reception at St. Winefride’s is a year of exciting growth, where children build firm foundations in reading, writing and mathematics while gaining the confidence to explore new opportunities and experiences.
"As a past pupil of St. Winefride's, the school is very special to me. Supporting children at the very beginning of their school journey is what makes working in Reception so rewarding."
Learning

In Reception, our children build firm foundations in the essential skills that will support their future education. We place particular emphasis on early reading and mathematics, giving our children the tools they need to grow in confidence and independence. Learning remains exciting and playful, with plenty of opportunities for creativity and exploration, and we enjoy activities intended to foster independence and responsibility. In Reception, children are welcomed into our school houses, giving them a sense of belonging and friendly competition. Sport and active play take on a bigger role too, helping children to build teamwork and coordination. These experiences complement their classroom learning and allow every child to shine in different ways, setting them up for a rich and varied school journey ahead.
