Last week, our U11 footballers were invited, as part of our partnership with Shrewsbury Town Football Club, to take part in the EFL Kids Cup Tournament at Montgomery Waters Meadow.
The team played really well on the day, scoring 11 goals and winning all but their last game. The last game, when only a draw would see St Winefride’s through to the final, was lost narrowly 1-0 to an unfortunate own goal in the last minute of play. Despite the obvious disappointment, our pupils thoroughly enjoyed the day, with Felix B., the U11 captain, being named man-of-the-match.
